He first arrives as a teenager from the future. He faces Frieza and King Cold when they arrive on Earth. Trunks tells Frieza that he will kill them Frieza is unimpressed by the threats. Trunks laughs this off, obviously a trait picked up from Vegeta. He goes Super Saiya-jin and blocks all of Frieza's attacks. He then decides that it is Frieza chopping time! Heh heh heh. Frieza definatly won't be coming back, so then it's King Cold's turn. Trunks plays it cool, then kills him. Trunks tells Vegeta, Yamcha and the rest of the mob that Goku will be landing in two hours time. They eventually follow and wait for the two hours. Vegeta gets agitated with Trunks because he keeps looking at him. They all ask him questions but Trunks can't reveal any secrets. Goku arrives and is pretty suprised to see them all waiting for him. Trunks tells Goku he wants to talk to him in private. Trunks asks Goku to show him his Super Saiya-jin technique, which he does. Then Trunks goes Super Saiya-jin too and attacks Goku but stops just as he is about to hit him. Trunks wasn't intending to kill Goku, just test his trust. Trunks thinks he can trust Goku and tells him that Vegeta is his father. Goku is really suprised to learn that Vegeta will become a dad. Trunks then tells him that he is from the future and will be born in two years time. However in his time line the Androids have killed Vegeta, Yamcha, Tien, Chiaotzu, Piccolo, Krillin and Gohan. He then informs Goku that he will die of a heart disease before this happens, but gives Goku an antidote. The Androids will arrive in three years from now. Trunks then comments that his mother said Goku could be trusted. Goku is interested to know who Trunk's mother is, he tells him she is Bulma. Goku is even more suprised to find out that Bulma and Vegeta have kids. Trunks then leaves after giving the information to Goku in his Time Machine. Trunks thinks to himself about Vegeta and Bulma before he vanishs. Trunks arrives back from the future and finds the remains of an android (#19), but he has never seen this android before. He catchs up with Piccolo, Vegeta, Krillin, Gohan and Tien who are fighting #20. He hasn't seen this android before either. Bulma flies in her aircar and #20 tries to blow it up and legs it. Trunks saves Bulma and Chibi Trunks from the fall. He gets annoyed with Vegeta because he didn't try to save them. Bulma says that the android looked like Dr Gero, and that his lab is near North City. Vegeta flies off to find the lab, Trunks follows him saying he won't let the Androids kill his father. He follows Vegeta and has a flashback of Bulma telling him about Vegeta and how he never told her cared, but she knew he did. Trunks keeps telling Vegeta that the Androids are incredibly strong. They sense Krillin's power increase and head to him. he has found Dr Gero's lab. Inside they hear that Androids #17 and #18 have been activated.  Vegeta blasts open the door, and #17 kills Dr Gero. Then #18 says she wants to activate Android #16. Trunks can't believe that there is another android,  (I guess seeing as #16 was created to destroy Goku only and he died in Trunks' future, he was never finished) Trunks blows up the lab, but #17, #18 and #16 are unharmed. #18 activates #16 and the three of them fly off. Vegeta wants to go after them, but Trunks says they have to wait for Goku. Vegeta punches Trunks and flies off. Trunks tells them they have to go after him so they fly off. They catch up with Vegeta and he is fighting #18. #17 says that if any of them interfer he will have to step in. Vegeta fights #18 and gets the crap beaten out of him, and she dislocates his arm. Trunks goes Super Saiya-jin and rushes to help Vegeta. Trunks tries to cut #18 with his sword but it shatters. #18 then swings Vegeta into Trunks, knocking them both out. Later Krillin revives them, along with Piccolo and Tien with some senzu beans. Vegeta flies off alone, Trunks goes to follow him, but Piccolo tells him to leave Vegeta be. He will come back, he just needs some time to clear his head, he is ashamed of his defeat. Piccolo then takes off and says if anyone follows him, they'll be sorry. Krillin explains that Piccolo must be going to see Kami-Sama to fusion with him and become a Super Namek. Krillin and Trunks head to Goku's and Tien goes to find Chiaotzu to continue training. They reach Goku's house adn put him in the aircar. Gohan joins up with them and they all go to Kame House. On the way, Bulma phones them and says that someone has found a second time machine. Trunks and Gohan go to investigate and eventually find the time machine. Bulma joins them and they look around the ship. They find out that it is Trunks' ship and arrived four years ago. But Trunks still has his time machine in its capsule. Also inside are two halves of what looks like an egg. Nearby they find an insect skin. Trunks and Gohan go back to Kame House, and later on the news see that something has attacked Ginger Town. trunks decides to go and find out what is happening. On the way there he senses what he thinks is Piccolo and Vegeta, but he also begins to sense other powers aswell. Krillin joins up with him and tells him they have sensed the different powers as well. They fly to Ginger Town. There, they find Piccolo and Cell, but Cell uses Solar Flare and blinds them while he flies off. Vegeta and then Tien join them and Piccolo explains about Cell. Vegeta flies off saying he is going to train to supass the level of Super Saiya-jin.  Piccolo and Tien fly off after Cell, and Krillin and Trunks go to find Dr Gero's basement. They eventually find and inside they find some blueprints for #17. They take them and destroy the basement, including the Cell that is growing. Trunks gives Krillin the blueprints and tells him to take them to Bulma. He is going to see if Vegeta will let him train with him, so that he can supass the Super Saiya-jin level. He finds Vegeta, but he is not interested at all. So Trunks sits a distance away from him. Goku and Gohan appear and tell him that they know where they can train. Goku talks to Vegeta and convinces him to train with Trunks. They go to Kami's Lookout and Vegeta and Trunks are the first to enter the Room of Spirit and Time, where they can get one years worth of training in a day. There is nothing in the room and Trunks is a little scared but doesn't want Vegeta to know he is. After they're training is finished they leave the room. Goku and Gohan go in next and Vegeta and Trunks go to fight Cell. Despite Trunks' warnings to Vegeta, Vegeta allows Cell to absorb #18 so he can fight him at full power. Vegeta gets the crap beaten out of him, even his Final Flash doesn't kill him, as he dodges most of it. Trunks tells Krillin he won't step in to help Vegeta until he is unconcious. He says that he has supassed his father's strength and that he deosn't want him to know. Trunks powers up well loads and fights Cell while Krillin takes Vegeta away. despite Trunks strength he can't hit Cell, he realsies the flaw in this increased level of strength and thinks that Vegeta must have known this, and that is why he didn't reach the level. Cell asks Trunks that if they had more time, could they become even stronger. Trunks says that they could, so Cell tells him that he will hold a tournament in 10 days time and he will fight them all then. Cell leaves. Vegeta and Krillin arrive and Trunks tells them of Cell's idea. #16 says that he wants to fight Cell too, but needs repairs. Krillin, #16, Vegeta and Trunks go back to Capsule Corp. They wait there to hear about Cell's Tournament. Bulma comes back from Kami's Lookout and was really worried about Trunks because he might be hurt. Vegeta and Trunks head back to Kami's Lookout to spend another day training in the Room of Spirit and Time. Goku and Gohan finish their training, then Piccolo traains, then Vegeta, then Trunks. When the day of the Cell Games arrives they all go to the tournament. But Mr Satan wants to fight first, so they let him. Of course he gets thrown out of the ring instantly. They all watch Goku fight Cell next. Cell and Goku are both very evenly matched, even when Cell uses Kamehameha, Tein's multiform, Special Beam Cannon and Kienzan. Then Cell gets bored with the constraints of the tiny ring, so blows it up. Goku and Cell fight some more. Goku fires a huge Kamehameha right at Cell and he blows up. But Cell regenerates himself. Goku then says that he gives up. Everyone is suprised because Goku never gives up. He then says that someone here is stronger than him, so Cell should fight him instead. Goku goes to Gohan and tells him to fight Cell. Gohan says that he doesn't have enough power to defeat Cell and that Goku is still holding back some of his power. Goku says that isn't true, he was using his full power, the only reason Gohan's thinks he's holding back is because Gohan is comparing his power to Goku's. Gohan confirms this. So Gohan steps up to challenge Cell. They fight but Gohan gets beat up. Goku tells Piccolo that he won't help, because Gohan is still holding back and that he'll be fine. But Gohan still doesn't seem to win. Piccolo realises that although Gohan has the strength he doesn't have the fighting will like Goku. Goku realises what he has done. Cell knows that Gohan is holding back his power and tells Gohan to unleash it. Gohan refuses, he tells Cell that if he taps into that power he will destroy Cell, he warns him not to push him other iwse he will regret it. Cell continues to beat up Gohan to try to get him to unleash his power. Android 16 then grabs Cell, he tells him that he has a bomb inside of him that is powerful enough to kill Cell and that he will detonate it. But the bomb doesn't explode, Krillin shouts that Bulma and Dr Brief deactivated the bomb. Cell then blows up Android 16. Then he creates seven Cell Jr's and tells them to fight Goku, Piccolo, Vegeta, Trunks, Yamcha, Tien and Krillin. The Cell Jr's are really strong and the only ones able to put up any decent defence is Vegeta and Trunks. Cell then tells the Cell Jr's to kill them. Mr Satan throws Android 16's head over to Cell and Gohan. 16 tells Gohan that it is okay to fight for the right cause. Cell then crushes 16's head and kills him. Gohan gets really angry and transforms into Super Saiya-jin 2. Gohan beats the shit out of Cell, and he even spits up Android 18. Cell is even less powerful and becomes Imperfect Cell. Gohan toys with Cell for a while, despite Goku telling Gohan to kill Cell now. Cell then decides that he will explode, the explosion will destroy the whole planet. No one knows what to do, then Goku has an idea. He says goodbye to everyone and uses his Instant Translocation technique to teleport Cell away from Earth. Gohan is really upset with himself as he blames himself for Goku's death. Krillin and the others comfort Gohan. But then Cell reappears and kills Trunks.  Trunks is later revived by Shenron after the battle has been won. Piccolo realises that Goku cannot be brought back by Shenron as this dragon is made from the same as the old Shenron, and Goku has already been revived before. They decide to revive Porunga on Namek because as that is the original dragon, he can revive people as many times as he sees fit. But then Goku speaks to them from Heaven and says that he will stay with King Kai in Heaven. He says that he will be a threat to Earth because all those who've attacked it like Frieza and the Androids have been after him. He says Earth will be better off without him. They agree with Goku. Goku says his goodbyes and tells them all to remember what happens in their lives because when they come to Heaven, he wants to hear about them. Shenron is getting annoyed and demands they make their second wish. Krillin wishes that #17 and #18 are made human again, but the wish cannot be granted. So then Krillin wishes that their bombs are deactivated and the wish is granted. Yamcha asks Krillin why he wanted #17 wished back to, and he says that he thought that 18 would be happier with 17. #18 then shouts at them saying that they weren't a couple and that #17 was her twin brother. She thanks Krillin and then flies off again. Piccolo says that he is going to live on Kami's Lookout and the rest of them fly off home. Trunks flies with Yamcha a bit of the way home. Yamcha tells Trunks that Vegeta went crazy when he saw Cell had killed him. The next day Trunks returns home to his time. He tells Bulma all about what happened on earth, that the androids were defeated and that Goku decided to stay in Heaven. He also tells her that Vegeta defended him when he was killed, and Bulma can hardly believe it. They hear a report that the androids are nearby, so Trunks goes to fight them. He easily kills them both, but he's not happy yet because he knows somewhere Cell is waiting. A little while later he decided to go back in the time machine and tell everyone that he's killed the androids. But he senses that Cell is nearby and challenges him. Cell isn't worried because he thinks Trunks is no challenge to him. But Trunks tells him that he has killed both the androids.
