His father was Vegeta, King of the Saiyans. Vegeta was young at the time and teamed up with a powerful Saiyan Elite named Nappa. After Raditz's death and overhearing about the Dragonballs they travelled to Earth in search of the Dragonballs to wish for immortality. They briefly stopped at a planet named Arlia, where after battling an army of Arlians they were named heroes of Arlia. Upon leaving Vegeta decided to blow up the little planet, killing all the inhabitants in the process. When they arrived on Earth they were confronted by the Earth's Special Forces: Krillin, Tien, Chiaotzu, Yamcha, Piccolo and Gohan. Nappa's Saibamen did the fighting to start off with, however when one failed to beat Tien, Vegeta killed it. One of the Saibamen was more lucky and killed Yamcha, however Krillin killed the other  four and attempted to hurt Nappa and Vegeta too, with no luck. Nappa did all the fighting until Goku arrived. Vegeta, disappointed with Nappa for losing against Goku, killed Nappa and decided to take on Goku alone. Vegeta offered that he teamed up with him, they would make an unbeatable team, however Goku declined. An intense battle followed, it was an even match until Vegeta transformed into his Oozaru, ape-like, form. Vegeta would have killed Goku if it weren't for Krillin, Gohan and Yajirobe coming to his aid. Yajirobe cut off Vegeta's tail and he transformed back to his normal form. Goku's spirit bomb, in Krillin and Gohan's hands hit Vegeta, and he was severely injured. But he still survived the attack and was pretty pissed off. Unfortunetly, Gohan transformed after looking at the artifical moon Vegeta had made and chased after Vegeta. Vegeta managed to cut off Gohan's tail, but not before being crushed by him. Vegeta crawled back to his pod, Goku was in worse shape then Vegeta so Krillin took it upon himself to finish Vegeta off, but reluctantly let him go at Goku's request. Vegeta headed to a small planet where he healed up. He soon learnt that another set of Dragonballs existed on Planet Namek and also Frieza had his eyes on them and had already collected some of them. He headed alone to Planet Namek in search of the Dragonballs. For the start he kept a low profile, allowing Frieza to collect five of the Dragonballs. Cui, a creature from the planet where Vegeta healed, had followed him to Namek. He was sure he could beat Vegeta, but Vegeta was hiding his true power level and easily killed him. Frieza was now aware of Vegeta's presence on Namek. Shortly after Vegeta ran into Dodoria, Vegeta was more powerful then him so quickly overpowered him. Dodoria bargained with Vegeta for his life and in return he told Vegeta the real demise of Planet Vegeta. Vegeta had originally been told his home planet had been destroyed by a meteor storm, but it was actually Frieza who destroyed it because some powerful fighters such as Vegeta were emerging and they could pose a threat to Frieza. However he chose to destroy it when Vegeta was not on the planet as he would be useful to him. Nappa, Raditz and Kakkarot were also away at this time. Enraged, Vegeta didn't keep his end of the bargain and killed Dodoria. Vegeta travelled to a Namek village where one of the Dragonballs was kept. Naturally the Nameks refused to hand it over. Vegeta easily killed the strongest fighters, along with the rest of the villagers, took the Dragonball and hid it in a nearby pond. Later he ran into Zarbon, but unfortunately, during the battle Zarbon transformed and overpowered Vegeta. He was severely injured and passed out. Zarbon later came back and took the unconscious Vegeta back to Frieza's ship to be healed. Vegeta almost didn't survive but eventually made a full recovery. He escaped from the rejuvenation tank and damaged a lot of Frieza's ship. He then hid. Zarbon and Frieza left the ship thinking Vegeta had scarpered. Vegeta then helped himself to some new armour and Frieza's Dragonballs. He then left in search of the last Dragonball. Later he found Krillin and Bulma had it, but Zarbon had followed him. Vegeta, stronger from his last battle with him and managed to kill Zarbon. He then turned his attention to Krillin, who reluctantly handed over the Dragonball in return for his and Bulma's lives. He then headed to retrieve the Dragonball he had hid in the pond near the Namek village. On the way he ran into Gohan. Vegeta let Gohan go, he had all the Dragonballs so it didn't bother him. However his dream of immortality was shattered as when he went into the pond the dragonball was missing. He realised Gohan had nicked it so, extremely pissed off; he hurtled back to Gohan and Krillin who were seeing Guru. It was then they learnt that the Ginyu Force were on the way to Namek. Vegeta knew he couldn't beat them alone so Vegeta, Krillin and Gohan allied together to fight the Ginyu Force. When they arrived Guldo was the first to fight. He focussed his attention on Krillin and Gohan, ignoring Vegeta. Vegeta killed Guldo easily, saving Krillin and Gohan's lives in the process. Racoome began to fight Vegeta. Racoome was more powerful than Vegeta so when it looked like it was over for Vegeta, Krillin and Gohan stepped in and saved his life. Racoome attacked Krillin, which enraged Gohan, as Krillin was badly hurt. Gohan was no match for Racoome and ended up being worse off then Krillin. Vegeta was exhausted and too injured to fight. It was then that Goku arrived on Namek. He gave Gohan, Krillin and Vegeta a Sensu Bean and restored their health. Vegeta watched as Goku easily beat Racoome and Burter. Vegeta couldn't work out how Goku had got so much stronger and feared that he was a Super Saiyan meaning Goku had got stronger than him. Vegeta was surprised that Goku let Jiece go and allowed Racoome and Burter to live. So he stamped on Burter's neck and blasted Racoome, killing them both. Goku ordered Krillin and Gohan to get the password to activate the Dragonballs. Captain Ginyu and Jiece turned up. Goku asked Vegeta for his help defeating these two, but Vegeta decided to leave Goku and followed Krillin and Gohan. He caught up with them at Frieza's ship, but hid. They were trying to activate the Dragonballs but with no luck. Later Goku and Jiece caught up with them but it turned out that Goku was in fact Captain Ginyu in Goku's body. Vegeta came out of hiding and battled with Jiece and quite easily killed him. He then returned to Krillin and Gohan who were fighting with Captain Ginyu. He took over from the battle and proceeded to beat the shit out of Captain Ginyu. Goku, in Captain Ginyu's injured body, arrived. Captain Ginyu attempted to switch bodies with Vegeta seeing as Goku's was now badly injured from Vegeta's attacks. But Goku jumped in the way and they were restored to their original bodies. Vegeta carried on fighting Captain Ginyu; he tried his body swap attack on Vegeta again. Using his last ounce of strength, Goku lobbed a frog in the path of the beam. Vegeta was a little confused as Captain Ginyu's body leapfrogged away, until he realised that Captain Ginyu was now in the body of a frog. Vegeta let him go, he didn't want frog guts all over his shoe. He then took Krillin, Goku and Gohan back to Frieza's ship. He put Goku in a rejuvenation tank and gave Gohan and Krillin some armour. Krillin went to find Dende and Vegeta left Gohan in charge of guarding the Dragonballs while he took a nap. He awoke to find the sky black and the Dragonballs missing. Vegeta was extremely pissed off and headed towards the dragon to find Krillin, Gohan and Dende had made two wishes. He was also aware that Frieza was on his way. Vegeta ordered them to wish him to be immortal, Krillin told Dende to grant Vegeta's wish. Then they would be able to beat Frieza, but the wish was not granted as Guru died before the dragon could grant it and the Dragonballs died with him. It was then that Frieza turned up. Vegeta began to fight Frieza and although not necessarily winning he managed to stand up to most of Frieza's attacks. Frieza transformed and shortly after Piccolo arrived and decided to fight Frieza alone. Vegeta let him; he knew Piccolo couldn't possibly beat Frieza seeing as him and Nappa killed him so easily on Earth. Piccolo got into problems and Gohan rushed to his aid. In the meantime Vegeta had a plan. He had noticed that Dende had the ability to heal, as he had healed Gohan earlier. Vegeta asked Krillin to fight him until near death, then get Dende to heal him. That way Vegeta would be more powerful from the defeat and they might stand a chance against Frieza. Krillin eventually agrees and shoots a beam through Vegeta. Vegeta tells Dende to heal him, but he refuses. Later Dende does heal Vegeta. Vegeta kicks Dende down for not healing him sooner. Frieza kills Dende. Vegeta believes that he is a Super Saiya-jin and fights Frieza, he still can't hit him. Frieza attacks Vegeta and beats the crap out of him. Frieza only stops when Goku arrives. Vegeta realizes that Goku is a Super Saiya-jin, and boasts to Frieza that Goku will kill him. Frieza is annoyed and kills Vegeta. Before he dies he tells Goku of all the bad things Frieza has done, of how Frieza took him when he was a boy and made him into what he is today, and how he destroyed the whole Saiya-jin race and Planet Vegeta. Vegeta then dies. His life is restored by Shenron and he flies to where Goku and Frieza are fighting. He is impressed to see that Goku has reached Super Saiya-jin level. Vegeta attempts to attack Frieza but is transported to Earth before he has the chance. He is a little confused as to what has just happened, but is well happy when he realises Goku and Frieza are out of his way. He boasts to the others that he will rule the Universe. Gohan gets annoyed with Vegeta and fights him. Vegeta easily beats him and is about to finish him off but Piccolo stops him. While the others fuss over how they can't revive Goku and Krillin because they died on Planet Namek, Vegeta suggests they wish them both to the Earth's check-in Station and then restore their lives. Vegeta would then ask Goku how he reached Super Saiya-jin level. Vegeta is a little miffed when Bulma calls him cute and asks him and the Namek-sei-jins to stay at her place. Vegeta hangs around with them, but is frustrated  to learn that Goku has been alive all this time and refuses to come back to Earth right now. He thinks Goku is training somewhere and Vegeta then takes one of Dr Briefs spaceships and blasts off somewhere. He goes looking for Goku to find out his secret of becoming a Super Saiya-jin. He destroys and kills alot of Frieza's men asking them about whether they know where Goku is. He trains on a planet somewhere, trying to become a Super Saiya-jin. He returns to Earth as his fuel is almost out and is faced with Yamcha who isn't best pleased to see him. Vegeta is annoyed that he didn't find Goku and will gladly take his anger out on Yamcha. Bulma stops the fight by telling Vegeta he smells and he should take a shower. Vegeta does while Bulma washes his armor. Bulma leaves some clothes out for him which Vegeta later asks whether it is a joke because they are pink and yellow. Vegeta asks Bulma, or servant woman as he puts it, where the towel is and the two of them shout at each other for a bit. He comments that he doesn't understand women and reluctantly puts on the clothes. Krillin, Yamcha and Bulma laugh at him, and Vegeta threatens to kill them if they don't stop. A little while later Vegeta senses a strong force approaching, two of them and one of them has to be Frieza. Vegeta, followed by Yamcha, head to where he thinks Frieza's ship will land. When they get there they find that Bulma and Puar have followed them. They are joined by Tien and Chiaotzu, Tien is not best pleased to see Vegeta. Piccolo, Gohan and Krillin join them shortly afterwards.  The ship lands a short distance away so they all head towards it, keeping their power levels low so they cannot be detected by scouters. They stop when they sense a new power level which is even higher than Frieza's. Krillin wants to continue, thinking that it might be Goku, Vegeta says they won't go any further until he says so. Moments later he continues towards the ship, followed by the others. They see that the stranger has killed Frieza and King Cold by himself. He tells them to follow him as Goku will be landing in two hours time. They follow him and wait for Goku. Only Bulma and Gohan seem to have much trust in the kid, especially seeing as he won't reveal anything about himself. Goku arrives as the kid said and is real suprised to see everyone and wonders how they knew he would land here. They tell Goku that the kid has killed Frieza and King Cold with ease. He asks to speak with Goku in private so they do. The others wonder what they are talking about as they look over every so often and Bulma is sure she heard her name. The kid leaves in his time machine, and Goku returns to group. He says he can't tell what was said. Piccolo then says he heard everything and will tell, but not anything that would endanger Trunks ie the fact that he is Bulma and Vegeta's kid. After learning about what will happen with the Androids they all decide to train. Goku explains where he had been all this time. He says how he escaped Namek and crashed on a planet called Yadrat. He then shows them a new move he has called Instant Transmission. Bulma suggests that they get the Dragonballs and ask Shenron where Dr Gero is now, so they can kill him before he makes the Androids. But Vegeta says they won't have time and Goku thinks that it would be unfair because Gero hasn't done anything wrong yet. They all decide to not do that and Bulma gets angry. Vegeta tells Goku that when the fight is over they will settle their score. He trains at the Capsule Corp. in a capsule with a gravity machine. He begins his training at 150 times Earth's gravity, then 300.  The capsule explodes and Vegeta is badly injured. He has a nightmare about Goku and Trunks as Super Saiya-jins and them being stronger and faster than him. He sees his father and him when he was young talking about how he is the strongest Saiya-jin and has the chance of becoming a Super Saiya-jin. Vegeta wakes up and wonders why Bulma is asleep on a chair in the recovery room. He goes back to training and Bulma shouts at him, so he shouts back. Vegeta ups the gravity to 450 times Earth's normal gravity. The three years pass and during this time he and Bulma have a son named Trunks. He next shows up when #19 is absorbing Goku's energy, he kicks #19 away and tells them that only he will kill Goku. He then transforms into a Super Saiya-jin and easily kills #19 using his Big Bang Attack. Krillin is confused because he thought that you had to be like Goku and have a pure heart and stuff to be a Super Saiya-jin. Vegeta explains that his motivation to become a Super Saiya-jin was very different to Goku's. He says that he trained under gravities of over 400 times Earth's gravity. He went to a different planet where a huge electric storm occured and meteours rained down on the surface. He struggled to save himself and his ship and got hit by a huge meteour. At that point Vegeta didn't care about anything anymore, whether he became a Super Saiya-jin or lived and that was when he transformed. #20 legs it and Vegeta asks for a Senzu then goes after him. He shouts for #20, telling him to stop being a coward and come and fight him. When #20 doesn't show Vegeta decides to blow up the surrounding area, but #20 absorbs the attack and gets energy from it. Vegeta is annoyed at himself for being careless. #20 vanishes again. They all find #20 and Piccolo beats him up, then the kid from the future appears, saying he hasn't seen these androids before. Piccolo says his name and Vegeta then realises that the kid from the future is his son, Trunks. Bulma turns up in her air car and #20 crashes it and runs off. Bulma says that the android looks like Dr Gero and Vegeta, followed by Trunks, fly off after him. They sense that Krillin has found the lab and meet up. They try to open the door and hear that Dr Gero has already activated #17 and #18. Vegeta blasts open the door and they see the three androids. #17 kills #20 and #18 is about to activate #16 when Trunks blows up the lab. but #17, #18 and #16 are unharmed by the attack. #18 then activates #16, and the three of them fly off. Vegeta wants to follow them but Trunks says they have to wait for Goku. Vegeta punches Trunks and flies off. Vegeta catches up with the androids on a motorway. #18 tells #16 to destroy him but he refuses so she fights him. It kind of even to start with, then Trunks, Krillin, Piccolo and Tien catch up with them. #17 says if any of them interfer with the fight he will have to step in. They watch Vegeta fight #18 and she starts beating the crap out of him. She dislocates his arm, Trunks turns Super Saiya-jin and rushes to help him. He tries to cut #18 with his sword, but it just shatters. #18 then grabs Vegeta and smacks him into Trunks, knocking them both out. Krillin later heals them with the senzu beans. Vegeta flies off alone and goes to some mountains. He stays there alone for a while, but he begins to sense what he thinks is Frieza and King Cold, but then he senses Goku as well. He goes to the source and finds Piccolo, Krillin and Trunks. Tien joins them shortly after, and Piccolo explains about Cell. Vegeta flies off saying he is going to train to supass the level of Super Saiya-jin. Trunks joins him, but Vegeta is not interested. Later Goku and Gohan turn up. Goku tells Vegeta that he knows a place where he can train for a year and it will only take a day, but only two people can enter at one time, so he'll have to train with Trunks. Vegeta agrees and they all go. Vegeta and Trunks are the first to enter. Once their training is finished they leave the room. They both go to fight Cell. Vegeta fights him and is obviously stronger, then Cell spots Android 18. He asks Vegeta if he will let him absorb her, then he will be at full power and Vegeta can test his strength. Trunks tells him not to, but Vegeta lets him.  Cell absorbs #18 and becomes Perfect Cell. Cell is now alot stronger than Vegeta and beats him up. Vegeta then uses a new attack, the Final Flash. But Cell manged to dodge most of it and survived. Cell then beats Vegeta unconcious. When he regains conciousness Krillin gives him a senzu bean. Vegeta and Krillin go back to find that Cell has gone. Trunks tells them that Cell will hold a tournament in 10 days. #16 wants to fight too. They head back to Capsule Corp to hear about where Cell will hold his tournament. Vegeta and Trunks head back to Kami's Lookout for another day of training in the Room of Spirit and Time. When Goku and Gohan leave the Room, Vegeta says that after Piccolo, he wants to use the remaining eight days for himself. But Piccolo and Mr Popo say that it isn't possible. After someone has spent more than 48 hours in the room the enterance disappears and they will be trapped forever. Once Piccolo finishes his training, Vegeta spends a day in there. After him, Trunks goes in. When the day for the Cell Games arrives Vegeta is one of the first there. The rest of them turn up. Vegeta thinks that Bulma wasted her time fixing Android 16, becasue his strength was not increased. Mr Satan wants to fight first, so they let him. Of course he gets thrown out of the ring instantly. They all watch Goku fight Cell next. Cell and Goku are both very evenly matched, even when Cell uses Kamehameha, Tein's multiform, Special Beam Cannon and Kienzan. Then Cell gets bored with the constraints of the tiny ring, so blows it up. Goku and Cell fight some more. Goku fires a hige Kamehameha right at Cell and he blows up. But Cell regenerates himself. Goku then says that he gives up. Everyone is suprised because Goku never gives up. He then says that someone here is stronger than him, so Cell should fight him instead. Goku goes to Gohan and tells him to fight Cell. Gohan says that he doesn't have enough power to defeat Cell and that Goku is still holding back some of his power. Goku says that isn't true, he was using his full power, the only reason Gohan's thinks he's holding back is because Gohan is comparing his power to Goku's. Gohan confirms this. So Gohan steps up to challenge Cell. They fight but Gohan gets beat up. Goku tells Piccolo that he won't help, because Gohan is still holding back and that he'll be fine. But Gohan still doesn't seem to win. Piccolo realises that although Gohan has the strength he doesn't have the fighting will like Goku. Goku realises what he has done. Cell knows that Gohan is holding back his power and tells Gohan to unleash it. Gohan refuses, he tells Cell that if he taps into that power he will destroy Cell, he warns him not to push him other iwse he will regret it. Cell continues to beat up Gohan to try to get him to unleash his power. Android 16 then grabs Cell, he tells him that he has a bomb inside of him that is powerful enough to kill Cell and that he will detonate it. But the bomb doesn't explode, Krillin shouts that Bulma and Dr Brief deactivated the bomb. Cell then blows up Android 16. Then he creates seven Cell Jr's and tells them to fight Goku, Piccolo, Vegeta, Trunks, Yamcha, Tien and Krillin. The Cell Jr's are really strong and the only ones able to put up any decent defence is Vegeta and Trunks. Cell then tells the Cell Jr's to kill them. Mr Satan throws Android 16's head over to Cell and Gohan. 16 tells Gohan that it is okay to fight for the right cause. Cell then crushes 16's head and kills him. Gohan gets really angry and transforms into Super Saiya-jin 2. Gohan beats the shit out of Cell, and he even spits up Android 18. Cell is even less powerful and becomes Imperfect Cell. Gohan toys with Cell for a while, despite Goku telling Gohan to kill Cell now. Cell then decides that he will explode, the explosion will destroy the whole planet. No one knows what to do, then Goku has an idea. He says goodbye to everyone and uses his Instant Translocation technique to teleport Cell away from Earth. Gohan is really upset with himself as he blames himself for Goku's death. Krillin and the others comfort Gohan. But then Cell reappears and kills Trunks. Cell is complete again and says that he has learned Goku's Instant Translocation. In the explosion only one cell survived, and that was all he needed to regenerate himself. Gohan is ready to attack Cell again, but Vegeta goes mad because Cell killed Trunks and starts blasting him in a mad rage. One he stops Cell is fine, he then knocks Vegeta down. Cell fires to kill Vegeta, when Gohan jumps in the way and takes the blast, saving Vegeta. Gohan manages to survive the blast, but his left arm is badly injured. Vegeta apologises to Gohan for being of no help in the fight. Cell fires a beam at Gohan, and Gohan counters it with his own, but he deosn't think he has enough strength left to kill Cell. From Heaven Goku tells Gohan he has the power to do it. Piccolo attacks Cell while Gohan is blasting him. Tien, Yamcha, Piccolo and Krillin all keep blasting Cell to help Gohan. Cell keeps knocking them back until they can't help anymore. Then Vegeta blasts Cell from the sky, Cell looks up at Vegeta. Cell is temporarily distracted by Vegeta's suprise attack and Goku tells Gohan that now is the time. Gohan releases a huge amount of energy and overpowers Cell's beam. The beam hits Cell and kills him, this time for good. Gohan then detransforms and falls to the ground exhausted. They congratulate Gohan on his victory, and then Tien, Yamcha and Krillin take Gohan, Trunks and Android 18 to Kami's Lookout to be healed by Dende. Piccolo stays back and tells Vegeta that what he did was very brave. Vegeta tells him he doesn't want his thanks or help. Piccolo says that that's his call and he flies off to Kami's Lookout. Vegeta is angry because Goku has beaten him in his own strength and through the strength of Gohan. He's angry because he'll never get the chance to prove his strength to Goku. He wonders what there is left for him now. He then thinks about how Goku sacrificed his life and fought without fear, and wonders what that makes him. Later on everyone gathers at Capsule Corp to say bye to Trunks as he leaves to go back to his timeline. Seven years pass and Vegeta has begun to settle down with Bulma and Trunks. Gohan says that he is going to enter the World Tournament, Vegeta decides that he will too to fight Gohan. Goku speaks to them from Heaven and tells them that he will enter too as he's allowed to come back for one day. They all meet up with Goku there.  The first tournament is the Junior Division, and Goten and Trunks make it to the final easily. The fight is quite even, but Trunks wins. Next is the main tournament, they all make it to the final 20 by punching a machine that measures their strength. They all hold back their strength, except Vegeta who breaks the machine. Krillin has to fight some big buy, Piccolo has to fight Kaio Shin, Videl has to fight Spopovitch, Goku has to fight Vegeta and Gohan has to fight Kibito. Krillin is first to fight and wins easily. Next to fight is Piccolo and Kaio Shin. But when it is their turn to fight, Piccolo forfeits the match. Videl is next to fight against Spopovitch, she gets badly injured, and doesn't even cause any damage to Spopovitch despite how much she was attacking. After Videl's fight with Spopovitch, Kibito is to fight Gohan. Shin tells Goku and the others to not interfer with what is about to happen. Gohan goes to full power and Spopovitch and Yamo step in and steal his energy, and then run off. Shin tells them all about a wizard named Babidi who is trying to resurrect a monster called Majin Buu. Goku, Vegeta, Piccolo and Krillin follow Shin to where Spopovitch and Yamo fly off to. They catch up and hide behind a rock and watch what's going on. Spopovitch and Yamu give Babidi and Dabura the energy they collected and then kill them. Dabura goes to where they are watching, kills Kibito and turns Krillin and Piccolo to stone. He then goes back in the ship with Babidi. Goku, Vegeta, Gohan and Shin follow after them. They reach the first level and PuiPui is the "boss" of it. Goku, Vegeta and Gohan play "rock paper sissors" to see who gets to fight first. Vegeta wins and fights PuiPui and easily wins without even having to turn Super Saiya-jin. The next level has Yakon who fights Goku. Gokuu easily wins so they go to stage three. Dabura fights Gohan but then leaves during the fight saying they have a new fighter for them to challenge. Shin is confused because he knows that Dabura is the strongest fighter under Babidi's power. Babidi gains control of Vegeta and transports them to the World Tornament. Vegeta kills some people and challenges Goku. Babidi transports them again to a mountain range. Shin and Gohan leave to find Babidi, so Goku and Vegeta fight. With every hit that vegeta lands, more energy is sent to revive Buu. They fight an intense battle until they sense Buu's power. Goku says they should stop and fight Buu, so Vegeta agrees, but then knocks him unconscious and steals the senzu bean. Vegeta is sorry that Gohan has died and flies off to face Buu. Nothing Vegeta does seems to have much impact on Buu and he starts to get beat up. Trunks steps in and saves Vegeta from more beats. When Vegeta comes round he tells Trunks that he is proud of him and that he has to take care of his mother, he then knocks Trunks unconscious. Goten gets angry at Vegeta for hurting Trunks, and Vegeta knocks Goten out too. egeta asks Piccolo if he will see Goku when he dies. Piccolo tells him that Goku is allowed to keep his body and go to Heaven because of all the good deeds he has done in his life, but because Vegeta has done evil deeds and been selfish during his life he most likely wouldn't go to Heaven. Vegeta then tells Piccolo to take Goten and Trunks and go as far away as possible. He agrees and flies off with Krillin. Once they have gone Vegeta prepares to fight Buu again, he summons all of his energy and releases it in a kamikaze style attack. As Vegeta dies he says that he's doing this for Bulma, Trunks and Goku.
